Atanas Yaranov
Atanas Dimitrov Yaranov (Sharo) is a Bulgarian artist and painter. Atanas Yaranov was born on July 13, 1940 in Sofia in the family of Dimitar Yaranov. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia in (1965), majoring in decorative and monumental painting under Prof. Georgi Bogdanov. His works are in the possession of the National Art Gallery in Sofia and many other museums in the country. He is the author of the mosaic "Theater" in the National Palace of Culture. Winner of one of the most prestigious awards of the Union of Bulgarian Artists: "Ilia Petrov" for decorative and monumental painting (1981), named after Vladimir Dimitrov-Master ), The Zachary Zograf Award for Painting (1985) and others. Atanas Yaranov remains today one of the brightest and most elusive phenomena in our national art. He has made numerous solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Bratislava, Warsaw, Vienna, Berlin. He died on August 14, 1988.
